Passy free!
So about two and a half weeks ago, I decided it was time to try no more passy for Evey when she sleeps. I wasn't really sure how to go about it and the only way I came up with was just to "cold turkey" her. So thats what I did. At first it was just during her daytime naps that I wouldn't give her the passy. That went ok... for a bit. I caved not long after that and she got her passy back. Then I decided that I needed to hide the passy's from her and me. (we aren't throwing them out cause Ellie will use them too). So thats what I did. Gathered all the Evey passy's and put them up. We have been passy free ever since! And Evey is doing great! We've only had maybe one night where I could tell she wanted it, but other than that she sleeps fine. She is so cute too! When i put her down for her "nap" time, she likes to play for a while. I'll sometimes sit on the stairs and peek under her door to see her little feet walking back and worth around the room. And when I check on her when she finally is quiet (she usually is talking and singing and yelling playfully when she is playing), she 9.5 times out of 10 is asleep in her bed. (I found her once hunched in the corner under her window asleep. it was cute!) I love that she goes to her bed to sleep! My little girl is getting so big! Can't believe she'll be 2 this year!?!

Just an FYI
To all my friends and family on the west coast. I just saw this, don't know if it'll happen (hoping not!), but its nice to at least be aware! I must say that although I really miss everyone out in WA/OR, I am SOOOOOOO glad we moved to FL. Granted, yes we do get our fair share of mother nature here, but earthquakes are not something I'd like to experience...out there anyway!
Before and After
Mike and I decided that we would start with the outside of the house making improvements and work our way inside. And since the front is... well...in the front where everyone can see it, we started there. :D Here are the before and after pics.
Now all we need to finish the front is new sod. Then its on to the back! That includes finishing the fence, landscaping our uneven yard, new sod back there as well, and widen the patio. Really not much more to do! Unfortunately all that is left is pricey, so its one step at a time. But its getting there! I really love doing sweat equity and making my house worth more! (at least to me anyway!)
Before. I had started to pull the rocks out at this point. |

no more space?!?!
so the other day when i was working on a post, it popped up while trying to add pictures that I had no more free space, therefore i could not load anymore pictures to my blog. After a few more tries and lots of frustrating "what the...." I went downstairs to steam at mike. Being the completely AWESOME hubby that he is, he quickly came up with a solution instead of purchasing more space (like google wants you to do. They only give you a certain amount free and when you reach that you can either stop or buy more per year.). I love mike. He setup one of our extra computers (it actually was his dad's old computer) into a server. Now I can load pictures onto my domain and upload them via URL to my blog! YAY! My first post using this new method is below...entitled Discovery. I'm so glad i can continue to blog with pictures! Mike is the best, most awesome hubby ever!! Glad I snagged him!
Discovery
On February 24th, 2011, the Space Shuttle Discover blasted off for the last time. And thanks to daddy getting off work early (and for getting a job down here in Florida!) we were able to go to Port Canaveral to witness this piece of history. I look forward to telling Evey and Ellie that they were there when the space shuttle blasted off. It was completely amazing!
Here are the girls on the drive over to the coast. Its only about a 45min drive. Ellie was out!
There goes the Space Shuttle Discovery!
Overall, it was a great day. I was in awe and loved every minute of this experience. Now I hope to watch the last few remaining launches before there are no more. Amazing stuff, simply amazing!!

There were so many people there! The bridge in the background was closed to traffic and had TONS of people on it! Amazing! |
Had to document me and ellie standing on an overpass |
Ellie was such a good girl! |
Waiting for the launch. We didn't have to wait long...perfect timing on our part! :) |
And we have lift off!! |

happy girl on the walk back to the car. |
Mike so graciously carried both girls most of the way. |
Sunset on the way home. With so many people there to witness this event, it took us awhile to get home. |
